One Saturday , THREE Lakes!!
Jon took Jacob, Ella and Molly out fishing on THREE different lakes in one afternoon while Aidan and I were in Salem today! They went to Lava Lake, Elk Lake and South Twin Lake. I can't believe how easy it is to get to all these unspoiled natural havens around here! It is amazing!
Jacob and Ella caught some trout! I guess Ella wasn't too happy about the killing and eating of the fish, and here's the hysterical evidence. I guess she'll be a catch and release fisherwoman!

I feel very blessed right now to live in a place with so much natural beauty. Every day is a new adventure. We can go to lakes, lava fields, rivers, huge rock cliffs or snow covered mountains all within a few minutes drive from home. Here are some photos from our outing yesterday. We went to Pilot Butte, Smith Rock, Central Oregon Pumpkin Co., had lunch in Sisters and then went to Suttle Lake and Tumalo State Park. We didn't leave until 10 am and were home by 5 pm! What an eventful, beautiful day.

House Pictures!
So, this is our new house. It is pretty cozy, but I really like it. Our furniture even looks like it belongs here! In every other house we've rented, I felt like our home looked so disorganized and haphazard. Everyone knows that decorating is one of my passions. Unfortunately, it usually takes more cash and more home ownership than I possess to make it look just right. This house though, is so easy to make look the way I want! The walls are not WHITE! They are a lovely warm pale yellow, which I never would have chosen, but wholeheartedly love. It really goes well with our things and brightens the house.
The kitchen is pretty small, but not uncomfortably so. It was hard to get a photo that looked right, but you can see the cabinet color in this one.

The dining room. Jon hung all my favorite photos of the kids up while I was working in Portland last week. I love it! And our table fits! What more could I ask for??
Well, I can't take photos of bedrooms today, because, well...they are disastrous. I wouldn't hold my breath for those if I were you. :) We miss you all!

Starting Over
So, we moved last Saturday and Sunday. The house does exist! And I LOVE it! It is super cute and roomy for the square footage. The kitchen is small, but very nice with newer stainless and black appliances, wood laminate floors and maple cabinets. The great room has this great vaulted ceiling with a beam across the top that opens everything up. There is a sliding glass door and a large picture window on the south side of the house facing into the backyard so that we can easily watch the kiddos and dogs from inside. The layout of the bedrooms is perfect and there is a second sliding door to the yard off the master. The yard is private and fenced and has some good size trees. There is a large red painted patio off the house that is big enough for Ella to ride her bike on and for all of our outdoor furniture. It will be great to be able to leave the chairs and loveseat outside for most of the year!
The kids seem to really like the house and have settled nicely into their new rooms. Jacob still has his own room and Aidan and Ella will be sharing. So far, it is working out wonderfully! I went in to kiss them goodnight on Monday and they were all tucked in bed together and Aidan was reading Ella a bedtime story. I love it when they get along and take care of each other! :)
The boys started school on Tuesday with fresh haircuts and specially selected outfits. The school is only about a 1/4 mile from our house, so there is no bus service. It will definitely be different to be REQUIRED to drive/walk/bike them to school, but it will be nice to get out and enjoy all of the dry autumn days ahead. They are making friends and working hard on homework already. We're still looking for a preschool for Ella though. Wish me luck.

Our house in Bend
So, this is the new house! I haven't actually seen it in person, so I hope it truly exists. I took the photos from the craigslist post that I found it on. It is pretty small, about 1300 Sq ft, but has a 1/4 acre fenced yard for the kids and dogs. I think it will be nice to live in a smaller space for a change, after we get rid of 3/4 of our belongings that is! It's super close to the elementary school and 3 miles from the hospital, so I think our health will be greatly benefitted by the frequent bike rides and walks. My garage sale last weekend was a dismal failure since neither the location or the weather were on my side. I will have a repeat performance once we are moved in. Being in town, in a cul-de-sac, has it's benefits....

Moving Day Approaches!
Well, we are leaving in less than 2 days now! It really crept up on me fast. I had planned on doing a lot of packing while Jon was hunting last week, but instead I got an awful cold and laid on the couch all week with a dripping nose. This week, I have been working every day. Poor Jon has been stuck at home packing all the junk we own by himself! I feel so bad about it, but I guess someone has to bring home the bacon, eh?
We move on Saturday morning. We reserved a HUGE U-Haul truck for 7 am. I hope that we can load the truck, and send the men over the mountain while my mom and I (and any other volunteers?) finish cleaning up the house we are leaving. I have to shampoo carpets, wash walls and bathrooms. Yuck. I absolutely hate to clean. I'd would much rather do it on Saturday than drive over on Monday to do it though.
I'll keep you posted after we are settled in!

We are moving!!
Well, I decided that I'd better get serious about this blogging stuff since we will very shortly be living far from friends and family. I got a much better job offer at St. Charles Medical Center in Bend and start working there October 13th! I will keep a part-time position at OHSU for now and commute once a month to work a few extra shifts.
Jon is counting the days until he gets to quit working at Plymart, after eleven years! He started working there in September of 1997, just before Jacob was born. The time has flown by it seems. He will get to stay home with the kiddos for awhile. He is deciding whether to finally go to college or get a new job or what. I think we all know what he SHOULD do. I know that Ella will love having her daddy home more often. I, on the other hand, am absolutely ecstatic about it. I will always have a clean house and dinners to eat!! Jon is so much more domestic than I am, it's not even funny. I am really looking forward to spending some alone time at home with him too, when Ella is in school :)
The kids are excited about the move too. I hope that changing schools is not too hard on them. They are so quick to make friends though, I think they will be okay. Bend has so many outdoor things to do, I think once we are settled, they will be very happy.
We are still searching diligently for a rental house. It is so hard to find a place that is perfect for us AND will take the dogs! It surprises me how many homes on acreage won't allow dogs. What do they think that people with acreage do anyway?
Enough ranting, I just hope it all works out in the next few weeks.... I'll keep you posted.

Jacob Isaiah
Jacob is one heck of a spitfire when he wants to be, but he is also the most thoughtful son we could ever hope for. He is so intelligent and introspective. He is reading so much now! I am happy to say, he may love to read as much as I did at his age. Jacob's teachers constantly compliment us on what a kind boy we have raised. Now if he'd just stop fighting with his brother!! :) He enjoys video games, sports and learning about mythology.
Aidan Robert Kelly
Aidan is the sweetest boy. He loves his family very much and lets us know it every day! He loves video games, junk food and pirates. He claims to be a vegetarian, but will eat hot dogs, hamburgers and chicken nuggets. He is so funny! He cracks us all up often. He is reading well and is doing great in math too! He likes to learn about animals and loves archery and fishing like his dad.
Ella Rose
Ella is such a girly girl. She was the answer to my prayers for a daughter who loves "girl stuff." Her favorite things are shopping and tea parties! She has about 15 pairs of shoes and wishes for more. She is very into her "babies" right now. She has a gaggle of them, including black bears named Too Shy and Mama Too Shy, a pink unicorn named Little Charlie, 
and about 90 others.
She will be in preschool and dance classes this year. She is very excited about school. We have pretend classes every day at home.
